I have a particularly religious Christian (I dunno what version) coworker. She expresses herself in many unexpected ways. Which makes life interesting for me as a not-at-all religious Jewish guy.

This coworker lady, she really puts her love of the lord right out there. She's always playing the Christian music station on iHeartRadio thru her computer, and has little religious baubles around her desk, like this one:

She also stuck this flyer on the wall in the copy room, which is a clear HR violation, but hey whatever if nobody else is annoyed by it I'm not going to raise a stink.

Anyway, today I was talking with my particularly religious coworker about Halloween costumes at offices, and mentioned that last night my gf and I carved our pumpkin for Halloween today. She responded,

"I don't normally participate in Halloween in any way, but if I do carve a pumpkin, I put a crucifix on it."

(record scratch noise)

That was the sound of my brain thinking, "ok don't say anything insensitive here." I figured she probably doesn't participate in Halloween because of thinking it's demonic or something, so I just said, "my participation in Halloween is purely secular," and laughed.

Time to go find some demons to hang out with...

Halloween actually has Catholic roots and to some denominations this can be considered more offensive than pagan roots.

You are a much nicer person than I. Luckily I don't work with anyone like that, but in college there was this one kid... He lived in the same house as me. I didn't take his shit and called him out to the point (well, me and like 2 other people) where he flipped out and got kicked out of the house. You just have to be slow and subversive with your trolling, and always be in the right.

You dealing with someone elses over imposing bullshit isn't harmony.

That would be like if we were coworkers and I kept telling you asian jokes about the guy in IT or black jokes about the guy in shipping or even the stereo types I just used in this hypothetical.

Even worse if I kept vocally informing you of the interns i'd corral with my _ _ _ _. You are ignoring a problem minorities in your office will not feel okay bringing up to you, because for all they know you endorse it. Your silence is endorsement to us.

From your admin posts it honestly sounds like they are under worked and nickle and diming the managers over trivial bullshit. Give her more to do, more impact to make and maybe her work ethic will improve
